Children's Chorus

of Collin County

MISSION STATEMENT

The purpose of the Chorus is to provide each child with an opportunity to grow musically, artistically, and personally; to foster in each a sense of wonder and pride through the joy of singing beautifully; and to encourage striving for excellence in all experiences.

HISTORY and VISION

The Children's Chorus of Collin County was founded in November of 2006 by area musicians and business leaders.  The Chorus began rehearsing  in January of 2007 in Wylie, Texas.  The original Chorus consisted of fourteen talented and dedicated singers and was directed by Janie Oliver and Darla Meek, with Carla Gaylor as accompanist.  The Spring Concert was held at Woodbridge Country Club in Wylie, and was a wonderful culmination of four and a half months of hard work.

Our first full Chorus Season will begin on September 10, 2007 with over fifty children.  Our rehearsals will be held at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, located at 5801 W. Plano Parkway, Plano, TX 75093.

This year's holiday concert will be held at St. Andrew UMC on Monday evening, December 3, 2007, and the chorus will share the stage with the popular virtuoso piano duo, Neilson and Young.

Members are selected through private audition.  Qualifications are a good voice, a love of music, and a desire to grow artistically, musically, and personally.  All members must commit to regular attendance at rehearsals and performances.  Choir placement will be determined by musical and vocal readiness, emotional maturity, attitude, and ability to focus.

The Children's Chorus of Collin County is an approved
501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
